They are sent, along with the instructions, to the various junior high and high schools around the USA. Who can Apply for the Prudential Spirit Awards?

Any students in grades 6 through 12 can apply for the community scholarships, and they also make top-notch high school scholarships for college.

Students must have completed a community volunteer service project within the last 12 months. Verification of the community service project must be included with the application. It needs to be verified by an authority figure within that charitable organization.

All applications must be turned in no later than November 1st. Then the local schools and organizations need to select and certify those that will be moving on for state judging. This must be completed by November 8th.

Any student that has previously won such an award can no longer be considered in subsequent years. However, that only applies if they have won at the level of a National Honoree.

Children of employees of Prudential also can’t apply for the scholarship funds. Schools don’t have to be a member of NASSP in order to participate in the program.

Children that are home schooled may apply if they also meet the grade criteria and the community service criteria. In such a situation, it is acceptable for the parent or legal guardian of the applicant to certify it for them to be submitted.
