Joseph S. Rumbaugh Oration Contest
This scholarship is operated through the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution. Only sophomores, juniors or seniors in a parochial or public school may apply. To apply you must prepare a 5-6 minute oration addressing the Revolutionary War. The amount of the award ranges between $200 and $3,000. All applicants will be required to compete in a local or state chapter contest.

This program provides the chance for students to showcase their science projects, share ideas and compete for scholarships and awards. Students may submit individual competitions or team competitions. The amount of the awards range between $500 and $50,000.
Best Buy Scholarship Program – Top college scholarships for high school sophomores!
Since 1999 Best Buy has issued approximately $19.7 million in scholarship funds to assist almost 16,000 students with their plans to attend college. The program provides for 1,200 scholarships for students living in the United States and Puerto Rico. Scholarships are awarded to high school students who demonstrate volunteer efforts, academic achievements and work experience. Although the program was once restricted to high school seniors it is now open to grades 9-11 as well. Each of the scholarships is worth $1,000.
LeRoy W. Homer Foundation Flight Training Scholarship
This scholarship program is for students who are at least sixteen years of age and who have plans to pursue a career as a professional pilot. The amount of the scholarship will cover fees and expenses for obtaining a private pilot license. The deadline to apply for this scholarship is the end of January.
National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences
This scholarship program offers a scholarship for students who are interested in majoring in telecommunications, television or a communications related field. The amount of the scholarship is $10,000. The deadline to apply is the end of January.
AngelSoft Angels in Action
This scholarship program seeks to recognize a total of ten children who are no older than age 15 and who have performed acts of volunteerism and kindness within their communities. The grand prize winner will receive $20,000. Ten first prize winners will receive $2,500 each. The deadline to apply for this scholarship is mid-June.
Girls Going Places Scholarship – High school sophomore scholarships for college!
These high school scholarships for sophomores are sponsored by the Guardian Life Insurance Company of America. Fifteen girls will win prizes that total $30,000. Applicants must have demonstrated a budding sense of entrepreneurship. One first place winner will receive $10,000. A second place winner will receive $5,000 and a third place winner will receive $3,000. Twelve winners will receive $1,000 each. The competition begins September first and the deadline is March 1st.
Americanism Essay Contest
This scholarship opportunity is sponsored by Fleet Reserve Association. A grand prize of $15,000 will be awarded in the form of a US Savings Bond. There are also first, second and third place winners for grade categories seven through twelve. All applicants must be sponsored by a member of FRA.
